The two giant ancient Egyptian statues known as the Colossi of Memnon (also known as el-Kolossat or es-Salmat), standing side by side, date back to the 14th century BC. The severely damaged quartzite statues belong to King Amenhotep III. In the first half of the 14th century BC, the new kingdom of ancient Egypt was ruled by Pharaoh Amenhotep III. The statues were erected in 1379 BC.

Information about the trip

Colossi of Memnon
They are two colossal statues standing side by side from the 14th century BC. Both statues depict King Amenhotep from the 18th dynasty. They are located on the west bank of Luxor.
Valley of the Kings
The Valley of the Kings was a necropolis in ancient Egypt, where 65 tombs have been discovered to date. For a long time, the Egyptians buried their pharaohs in pyramids, but grave robbers often plundered the valuable treasures and burial items. Therefore, the kings of the New Kingdom wanted to hide their tombs and built them in the Valley of the Kings. The most famous tomb in the Valley of the Kings is the tomb of Tutankhamun
Temple of Hatshepsut
The temple dates back to the 18th dynasty and was built by Queen Hatshepsut. Its striking feature is its unique architecture, and it is the best-preserved temple in Luxor

Der Tagesausflug nach Luxor war sehr gut organisiert, die Abholung vom Hotel pünktlich. Alle beschrieben Teile der Tour fanden auch tatsächlich statt, auf zusätzlcihe Kosten wie die Nilkreuzfahrt wurde im Vorfeld aufgeklärt. Unser Führer Zizo sprach überraschend gut Deutsch und konnte uns viel über die Geschichte empfehlen. Der Transport hätte etwas komfortabler sein können, doch insgesamt war das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis sehr gut.

Wir wurden pünktlich abgeholt und waren vergleichsweise schneller als die anderen großen oder kleinen Reisebusse vor Ort. Unser Tourguide Zizo war sehr nett und konnte gut deutsch sprechen. Er vermittelte uns immer die inhaltlichen Highlights ohne sich in Details zu verlieren und gab einem einen guten groben Überblick. Wenn man genauere Fragen hatte, konnte er sie aber auch super beantworten und einem mehr erzählen. Er schütze und warnte und auch vor Betrügern. Die Frühstückssnacks und auch das Mittagessen sind von der Qualität bzw Vielfalt eher touristisch-ägyptisch, aber für uns hat es für den Trip gereicht.
Einziger Negativpunkt war ein Halt in einer Alabaster Werkstatt, bei der man
offensichtlich etwas kaufen sollte, es war einem jedoch freigestellt ob man es letztendlich tut. Diese Info wäre aber vorab gut gewesen. Abseits dessen war der Trip eine Reise wert.

Es war ein sehr schöner Tag. Die Tempel sind großartig. Der Guide ist leidenschaftlich und spannend. Was den Transport betrifft, waren die Fahrer sehr nett. Ich empfehle
Der Guide Khaled war unfassbar lieb und konnte wirklich sehr gut Deutsch. Der Minivan hatte eine Klimaanlage und war sehr bequem. Unsere Gruppe bestand aus 6 Personen, die alle in unserer Altersgruppe waren und alle deutschsprachig waren, wir haben uns sehr gut verstanden. Die Tempel und die Gräber waren wirklich sehenswert. Es wurde immer wieder Wasser für uns geholt, wenn dies leer geworden ist und am Ende haben wir sogar noch ein kleines Eis bekommen. Es war wirklich perfekt, kann ich nur empfehlen 🙂

Die Tour war top organisiert, kann ich
weiterempfehlen. Man sollte vor der Tour aber auf den Wetterbericht achten, da man viel draußen unterwegs ist und es sehr heiß werden kann. Unser Tour Guide Zizo sprach sehr gut deutsch und konnte mit seinem Wissen über das Tal der Könige und die Tempelanlagen glänzen.
